Call for contributions for an e-book on ‘Our connection to life: Perception on Nigeria’s SSF

TBTI Global is pleased to announce the call for contributions for an upcoming e-book on 'Our Connection to Life: Perception on Nigeria's Small-Scale Fisheries'. The volume, to be edited by Akintola, Shehu Latunji, Fakoya, Kafayat Adetoun, Olatoye, Kareem Adebayo, Adeleke, Lydia Mosunmola,  Abiodun-Solanke, Ayojesutomi, and Areola, Foluke Omotayo and Agunbiade, Imran Adelumola, aims to showcase small-scale fisheries in Nigeria, depicting various aspects of this important sector and situate them in the global context. The e-book will reveal the significance of Nigeria’s small-scale fisheries to the wellbeing, social and economic life of the people in the country, explaining the multiple connections, including to food and nutritional security, ways of life and much more. It is an account of the numerous manifested and obscured opportunities, values and benefits. Further, the e-book will compare the status of the small-scale fisheries in Nigeria to on-going fisheries and ocean development in the West Africa region and other African states, as well as globally. Finally, it will illustrate the views of youth in relation to their participation in the future of the small-scale fisheries sector.

The e-book will be published under TBTI Global Book Series and will mark the official start of the TBTI Nigeria Research Network. The e-book will be available online, free of charge. Click here to read the books published in this series.

If you would like to contribute to this e-book, please send the following information:

  • Name, affiliation and emails of all authors;
  • Tentative title and the abstract of your case study, including the name of the fisheries and location [250 words max]; and
  • Description of the small-scale fisheries issue that you would like to focus on [100 words max]
