Great Fishcake Recipe Challenge

‘Great Fishcake Recipe Challenge‘ is a contest for the best fishcake based on locally sourced fish in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The recipe contest is part of the celebration of World Fisheries Day that will take place on November 21, 2016 from 5-9 pm at the Bruneau Center, Memorial University, St. John’s under the theme, ‘ReCODnecting: Renew, Reimagine and Revitalize.’

Send us your favourite fishcake recipe! We would like to hear from you whether you have a recipe that’s traditional, with a modern twist, Canadian or international. Don’t assume that there is nothing special about your fishcake. Let us be the judge!

To enter the contest, email your recipe to toobigtoignore@mun.ca by November 15, 2016. Feel free to include a photo of your dish as well. Three selected contestants will be invited to showcase their fishcakes at the World Fisheries Day event. The best fishcake will be chosen by an audience vote. The winner and all runner-ups will receive a small prize. The winning recipe will also be included in the upcoming Great Fish for a Change: Newfoundland stories’ book.

Join us in celebrating the fishcake, this staple of Newfoundland cuisine. Plus, help us spread the word about the important value of fish for food security and nutrition.
