International Course on the SSF Guidelines

This face-to-face course is organized by the Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean (FILAC) through its emblematic program Indigenous Intercultural University, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Indigenous Council of Central America (CICA). The course will be held in the Panama City, at the FAO regional office, from August 28th to September 09th.

The overall objective of the course is to: Support the social, economic and environmental transformation of the small-scale fishing sector toward food security and poverty eradication as a result of better policies, strategies, and initiatives.

The Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean is willing to grant 25 full scholarships to participants, in an equitable manner among the 6 Central American countries: Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Panamá, and Costa Rica. The program comprises of nine (9) mandatory modules. Participants will be selected based on their indigenous origin, linkages to an indigenous organization, or whether they represent a territorial/autonomous government/traditional authority/fishing authority.
