
Elisabeth Mann Borgese was known worldwide as "The Mother of the Oceans" and dedicated all her life to the understanding of ocean matters, to the development of a constitution for the oceans and to the consideration of the oceans as a "great laboratory for the making of a new international order based on new forms of international cooperation and organisation, on a new economic theory, on a new philosophy".

As part of World Oceans Day 2019 celebrations in Halifax, TBTI Project Director Dr. Ratana Chuenpagdee was invited to join the annual Elisabeth Mann Borgese Oceans Lecture organized by the TBTI partner organization International Ocean Institute (IOI).
Following a presentation by the featured speaker Ms. Reneé Sauvé, Acting Director General of External Relations Directorate, Fisheries and Oceans Canada on the country's recent experience in the topic of 'Blue Revolution', panellists discussed 'The Blue Revolution: Challenges and Opportunities' from the perspective of conservation, biodiversity, the environment and social justice.
