Two Funded Master’s degree positions on SSF research at Memorial University

TBTI is seeking to recruit two students interested in pursuing Master’s degrees in fisheries-related topics at the Department of Geography, Memorial University (St. John’s, NL, Canada). The first project will focus on values and importance of small-scale fisheries. The second project will focus on issues affecting access, use and management rights of small-scale fishing people.

Successful applicants will be offered a fellowship of $17,500 per year for two years, starting September 2016. Fellowships are contingent on students being accepted for Master’s program by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Memorial University. Please check your eligibility before applying.

The fellowship is opened to students from any nationality with backgrounds, interests and experience in SSF in any part of the world. Students must have good communication skills (written and oral) and can work independently. Interested candidates who meet these and SGS requirements should send a cover letter, CV, transcripts, name and contact information of three referees to toobigtoignore@mun.ca with ‘Master’s degree’ in the subject line. The application should also include a one-page research statement related to one of the two projects listed above that the candidate is applying to.
