Call for contribution for an upcoming book on SSF in Latin America and the Caribbean

Grupo de Investigación en Sistemas Socioecológicos para el Bienestar Humano (GISSBH; (Research Group on Socio-ecological Systems for Human Well-being) of the Universidad del Magdalena and Conservation International Foundation, is calling for contributions for their upcoming book ‘Successful cases of empowered communities in the managements of their fisheries resources in territories of Latin America and the Caribbean’ [Casos Exitosos de Comunidades Empoderadas en el Manejo de sus Recursos Pesqueros en Territorios de Latinoamérica y el Caribe].

This call is aimed at actors outside the communities (independent researchers, associates, or those linked to any public, private or mixed entity) who have been or are witnesses, through a personal experience of a change in the community that favours sustainable management of the fishing resource and well-being of the community, and that, due to its positive impact the community, wants it to be made visible, to postulate its case studies. Likewise, the invitation to submit their case studies is extended to external actors who, through collaborative work with the community, have advanced in the search for joint solutions that contribute to fisheries management in their territories.

The purpose of the publication is to make visible positive experiences of local empowerment in coastal marine and continental artisanal fishing communities in Latin American and Caribbean countries, through fisheries management processes that have been the product of collective decision-making for conservation and the sustainable management of fishery resources in their territories.
