GF Recipe Challenge

'Great Fish Recipe Challenge' is a contest for the best fish recipe based on the locally sourced fish in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. We welcome recipes based on all kinds of fish, especially those using small pelagic fish (e.g. capelin, mackerel and herring), salt fish, squid, scallops and other. Our aim is to increase awareness about the important value of fish for food security and nutrition, as well about the significance of fish for the local food systems.

If you have a favourite fish dish, whether traditional, with a modern twist, Canadian or international, please send it to toobigtoignore@mun.ca by October 31. Alternatively, you can submit your recipe through an online form. Please include a photo of the dish as well. All recipe submissions will be put in a draw for a prize.

The winner of the contest will be chosen at the cook-off of that will take place during the 'Great Fish for a Change' event in St. John's on the World Fisheries Day, November 21, 2015. The winner and all runner ups will receive a prize and a gift certificate. Best recipes will also be featured in the 'Great Fish for a Change: The Newfoundland Stories' book.
