Rashid Sumaila and Anna Schuhbauer, coordinators of the ‘Economic viability’ research cluster present preliminary results of their analysis of the proportion of fisheries subsidies provided by governments around the world that go to small-scale fisheries as opposed to large-scale fisheries. Their research shows there is a serious bias against SSF, impacting their economic viability in a big way.
